Background

For this particular research project, I am focused on two main areas:

  1. I want to understand and to gather a deep understanding of the user journey when user using this website
  2. I am interested in learning how customers currently use our product, and any pain points or problems they are experiencing

About studentjob.co.id

Student Job is a special job portal for high school / vocational high school students, students and fresh graduates that provides information on internship, part-time, volunteer, and full-time job vacancies.

Hypothesis

I decided to use the website and explore more about it, doing some task. After I used the website, I found several issues, here are the results of website testing that I did before:

  1. In the homepage there are a lot of categories
  2. The language used in this website are inconsistent
  3. Register and login is not working, it makes hard for us to trust this website
  4. Poor layout
  5. Bad ads
  6. The search box cannot be set for certain conditions
  7. So many free spaces left in the page about detail information about the internship

Objectives

Business Objectives & Key Performances Indicators:

Research Objectives:

I use SUS method to test the usability on this website. System Usability Scale (SUS), the scale consists of a 10-point questionnaire with five possible answers each, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. This research also includes:
• Discover people’s end-to-end journey when using this website
• Evaluate the current website, and any immediate pain points, or bugs, customers are facing

Research Participant Profiles

5 Participants
• Male and Female
Primary research
• SME interviews
• User interview
• Usability test
• Post-session survey

Interview Guide

I use the TEDW approach to form open-ended statements that induce conversation and entice users
to tell stories.
“Tell me more…”
“Explain…”
“Describe what you mean by…”
“Walk me through…

Process

To find out and provide solutions to problems experienced by users. I do it with the Design Thinking method.

Empathize

To empathize I do it with research, I did the research to 5 participants, I used 2 methods of research including Usability Testing and User Interview. I conducted Remote Moderated Usability Testing and User Interview with google meet

Usability Testing

Users are asked to imagine the above scenario by doing, to support the scenario, I’ve made the task list that the user must do:
- Register
- Search internship in certain conditions
- Find more information about newest job vacancy or internship

Key Findings:
- Login and Register page is not working
- Search box is less customizable, so we can’t search internship in certain conditions
- ‘see more’ button is hard to see
- The detail information is too crowded (so many texts)

User Interview

After I did Usability Testing, I also interviewed 5 people who were the same to validate more about the problem. I want to know whether my hypothesis is validated or not through this user interview. I also asked what motivated them to use this application and what do they use it for.

  • What are you thinking as you look at this?
  • What is your (first) impression of this product/feature?
  • What do you think this product/feature does or will do?
  • Where do you start?
  • When and where do you think someone would use this product/feature?
  • What do you expect to gain from using this product?
  • What would keep you from using this product?
  • Do you feel this product is similar to another one?
  • Do you trust this product?
  • You [started to shake your head] when I showed you the interface, what caused this reaction?
  • Was the interface easy to understand?
  • What was the easiest task to accomplish?
  • What was the hardest task to accomplish?
